ERA Pacifica Office Chair
What it is: The ERA Pacifica is big and sturdy. It's designed for people who are tall and/or heavy set enough that most standard office chairs are not a comfortable fit. I'm heavy set and, despite that, this chair still has lots of room to spare. It mostly came as advertised and is reasonably comfortable. What it is not: Inexpensive: just one of these chairs costs the same as what you might pay to outfit an entire office. Soft and cushiony: The chair's cushions are rather firm. While that works for me, if you want something softer, there are other models that can better fit your needs. Easy to adjust while seated in the chair: the extra large seat area makes it difficult or impossible to reach many of the controls that are on the underside of the chair. If the control arms on the chair were a bit longer, it might not have been a problem. You need to be standing next to the chair (as opposed to being seated) in order to easily adjust it. Completely as advertised: the lumbar adjustment on it is a single knob on the right-hand side of the chair (near the back) that moves the lumbar pad in and out. The advertisement included a short video that shows another knob (same location but on the left side) that moves the lumbar pad up and down the back of the chair. The photograph of the chair also shows the lumbar adjustment on the left side of the back of the chair. The actual chair does not have the lumbar adjustment knob on the left side. This means you can move the lumbar pad in and out but not up and down. The details of the chair specifies a "two way" lumbar adjustment. That presumably means "in" and "out" - which contradicts the manufacturer's video and the picture of the chair itself. I took off one star for that inconsistency.
