The Best Office Organization Tips
Having an organized office is something which has been beaten into our brains as office workers for years now, but it is a task many of us often overlook anyway. The fact of the matter is, though, the organization of your desk can directly affect the productivity level of your day as well as the quality of work you produce.
So how should you organize your office exactly and where should you begin to do it efficiently? Follow a few of these simple tips and tricks and you can make your office a much cleaner and functional space.
Keep Only the Essentials
The first step of your total office makeover is by getting rid off all the non-essentials creating additional clutter on your desk. Purging your office and creating a minimalist space will serve you much better in the long run and can help you get on task quicker.
Keep only the essentials around, such as a couple of pens, your notebook or calendar to keep track of your meetings and assignemnts. Anything you don't find yourself using on a daily basis can be removed for good as it is only creating clutter to your workspace.
Keep Documents Together
The digital age is continuously making the workplace a paperless world each day. In the long run, however, there are still important documents you will have hard copies of and keeping them together in an organized fashion is key.
Investing in some sort of desk caddy such as a paper tray or cabinet filing system in your desk can help you keep all your important documents together without having to take up too much space. Having an "in" and "out" tray for documents you may need to handle or get to other colleagues is another great way to make sure you don't misplace or mix up anything.
Do you have folders and binders full of important documents you need to keep track of? Instead of leaving them strung out all over your desktop, magazine holders are an excellent additional to any office to keep these folders in an easily accessible area.
Address the Inside of Your Desk
The drawers and other spaces inside your office desk can quickly become a catch all area for random items and things you simply don't need. Instead of using it for these items, look at your desk drawers as valuable space to keep track of important documents and files while keeping your desk neat and tidy.
One of the best ways to keep this area clean and organized is by investing in a filing and labeling system. This process will allow you to access important items quickly and efficiently so you can boost your overall productivity in the long run.
